The Duty of God's People While Awaiting His Appearing

Preview: God’s people are not to remain idle. We have work to do in the service of the Lord.


Scripture Reading: Matthew 25:31-46.

Memory Verse: I Corinthians 4:2.

1. What saying of Jesus is especially appropriate for us today? Luke 2:49.
2. What is required of true stewardship? I Corinthians 4:2.
3. To what is a faithful steward compared? Proverbs 25:13.
4. What was Jesus’ mission at His first advent? I Timothy 1:15.
5. What are we to others when we show forth the long-suffering of Christ? I Timothy 1:16.
Note: The life of Jesus was our pattern. He lived a most devoted, unselfish life, giving His all to save those lost in sin. How beautiful such a life shines forth in the thoughts and ideals of men and women, but how powerless they are of themselves to carry it out, and to follow His steps. The evils of the day, and the fleshly desires that cause us to lust after the things of this world choke out the divine seeds that Heaven has planted in every heart, unless we pray.
6. What will always shine forth if we are faithful servants? For what purpose? II Corinthians 4:6.
7. Is the excellency of the power in us or in God? II Corinthians 4:7.
8. What does the Lord say about the support of the ministers who represent us in preaching the Gospel? I Corinthians 9:7 & I Corinthians 9:13-14.
Note: The support of the ministers in the Gospel age is according to the Scriptures. “Even so” means in the same way. Here the Lord says it is “Even so”. It was the tithe then, therefore, it is “Even So” now. The transaction of Calvary increased the scope of the Gospel, as Jesus died for ALL nations. The message then must go out to all the world. Its scope was enlarged and consequently the need of the tithing system magnified.
9. What is the reward of those who sow sparingly? II Corinthians 9:6.
10. What type of giver does the Lord love? II Corinthians 9:7.
11. How does the Lord test the faithfulness of His people? Luke 16:10-11.
Note: The Lord places a test upon men and women regarding their handling His money. Indeed, if they will be faithful over the little things, He can trust them with the greater things.
12. How can we expect to inherit the true riches which are eternal if we are not faithful in the tithe which belongs to the Lord? Luke 16:12.  
13. How many masters is it possible for man to serve? Luke 16:13.  
14. How should we stand before both God and man having been given the ministry of the Gospel to the world? II Corinthians 4:1-2.
15. Who is the Gospel of Christ hidden from? II Corinthians 4:3.
16. Why is the Gospel hidden from some? II Corinthians 4:4.
17. How do the things of this world and the things of God appear to those who are called out for Him and His service? II Corinthians 4:6-10.
